1. Can my son or daughter participate in more than one sport at Wakeland?
Answer: YES. If the student-athlete can manage and balance time and academic demands then coaches will be willing to work with each other to make this happen. The parent and student-athlete along with communication with coaches will make this an easier transition.
2. Is it possible to participate in other UIL activities offered at WHS that might conflict with athletics, and still be involved in athletics?
Answer: YES. Coaches, within reason, will do all they can to accommodate an athlete participating in other UIL activities at WHS. Because of the nature of athletics, it does become more difficult for athletes who participate in many activities that overlap their time commitments. Coaches are trying to put a winning team on the field and court. The tendency is to put those athletes on the field who have practiced together and are ready for competition. When athletic workouts on the High School level are missed, someone else is taking their repetitions in practice. “Playing time” is not guaranteed for anyone. On occasion it may be important for parent, student athlete, and the coach to communicate on what is best for the child. In other words, what is the best activity that my son or daughter can be involved with that gives a chance to be successful.
3. Should I take my son or daughter out of workout to attend a doctor, dentist etc… appointment?
Answer: NO. Athletes (except in case of emergency) should not miss any workouts. Appointments should be made outside of athletics times.

Answer: Only athletes that move in from another school may join the team after the season has started except in special situations approved by the Head Coach and the Campus Athletic Coordinator.
6. If I am placed in ISS, SOC, or Saturday School can I still be a part of the team?
Answer: YES, but there will be consequences and make up workouts as assigned by the Head Coach of each sport.
7. What does my son or daughter need to wear during practices and games?
Answer: Athletes may only wear Wakeland issued or WHS Coaching Staff approved clothing and equipment items during practice and games.
8. If my son or daughter is academically ineligible, does he or she still need to come to practice?
Answer: Yes, all athletes will be expected to practice during the period of time that they are academically ineligible.
9. What should I do if I believe that my son or daughter as an injury?
