Wakeland Tennis

1.31.2011 - The Wakeland Wolverine Tennis Team kicked off the Spring season with excellent results at the Wakeland Invitational tennis tournament.

Jordan Reed and Kyle Funk won the Boys A Doubles Championship to start the spring season where they left off last spring.  Reed and Funk won the District 9-4A Boys Doubles Title in 2010 and also qualified for the State 4-A Tennis Tournament.  Reed, who holds the team record for career match victories with 183 wins, expects to break the 200 win barrier this spring.

Chase Plowman and Natalie Miller teamed up to advance to the Mixed A Doubles Finals losing 7-6,6-3 to a tough Naaman Forest team.  Plowman, who advanced to regional's last year in Mixed doubles with senior Merida Thurmon, will attempt to better his quarter-finals appearance this year with Newcomer of the Year Natalie Miller.

Ethan Perry and Cameron Strohla advanced to the Boys A Doubles Semi-Finals.  Billy Barber won the Consolation draw in Boys A Singles.  Alyssa Ustica and Gabby Grandy also won the Consolation draw for Girls B Doubles. Maddy Zimmerman won the Girls B Singles Consolation draw.

WHS will play in the Flower Mound Marcus Invitational tennis tournament this Friday.
