Wrestling 2.8.10 - Team Captains Lead Team Through Tough Dualsl
KJ Weisheit and Michael DeMattia won their respective weight classes on Saturday to win the District 16 Championships. Conner Zimmerman took 2nd place in his weight class. Weisheit, DeMattia and Zimmerman will represent Wakeland at Regionals this weekend at Arlington Martin.
Finishing 3rd in their weight classes, Frank DePaolo, Preston Loetzer, and Bailey Clark will join them at Regionals as alternates. The boys team finished Districts in 4th place out of 11 teams with the aid of additional placers; Brycen Coffman, Davian Garcia and Jeff Mathis.

Shaterrain Burks, Mariah LeMaster, Shea Smith and Jocelyn Draper won their respective weight classes on Saturday to win the District 16 Championships. Shannon Jones and Jacque Byrd placed 2nd in their weight classes. They will represent Wakeland at Regionals this weekend at Arlington Martin. The girls team finished in 2nd place at Districts.

Over the last two weeks, Senior Captain KJ Weisheit (15-0) and Junior Captains Michael DeMattia (14-0) and Preston Loetzer (12-2) led the Wolverine Wrestlers to victories over Liberty, Heritage, Celina, Gunter, Newman Smith, and Houston Powerhouse, Katy.

Junior Captain Michael DeMattia wins the Rockwall Invitational with K.J. Weisheit, Preston Loetzer and Frank DePaolo rounding out the weekend as placers.

The Wolverines open the year in the Warrior Invitational at Martin High School where junior Michael DeMattia leads with pack with a 2nd place finish and senior Frank DePaolo comes home with 3rd.
